Empowering Young Adults Beyond The System
Our program supports young adults returning into our communities from justice facilities, many navigate complex and interlocking systemic barriers. These gaps do not exist in isolation—When support is lacking, young adults tend to focus on surviving day by day rather than planning for the future. This survival mode increases the likelihood of homelessness, unemployment, untreated mental health needs, substance use/ risk of relapsing, and re-involvement with the system.
Cages To Keys is a voluntary, trauma-informed transitional program dedicated to giving young adults a true second chance. Transition is the most vulnerable stage we are here to change that. Our name reflects our mission to transform the experience of circumstances and confinement to the endless opportunities of stability and freedom. We believe that when young adults are supported rather than punished. Cycles of incarceration can be broken and futures can be rebuilt.
